Note that you should also check with the Nigerian embassy. For instance during my planned travel, the US embassy said I was okay with my American passport expiring within 6 months of my travel. This was what was showing on their end because I called on three different occasions and spoke with three different people to verifyJ However, months later when I went to the Nigerian Embassy they denied my visa stating that my passport was expiring within 6 months, so I had to go through the lengthy process of obtaining a new US passport to travel. I lost the money I paid for the flight while waiting for expedited paperwork that arrived two days after my scheduled flight.
